Ayurvedic Herbal Medicine in South Asia

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system of medicine that uses herbal remedies as a central therapeutic approach. Its origins date back over 3,000 years and continue to influence health practices across South Asia.

Ayurvedic medicine is based on the balance of three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each individual has a unique constitution, and herbs are selected to restore balance.

Common Ayurvedic herbs include turmeric for inflammation, ashwagandha for stress and strength, triphala for digestion, and tulsi for respiratory health. Herbs are often combined with dietary and lifestyle recommendations.

Ayurvedic preparations include powders, oils, decoctions, and herbal pastes. Many remedies are designed to detoxify the body and support organ function.

Ayurvedic herbal medicine focuses on prevention, longevity, and harmony between mind and body.
